LUCKNOW: The sister of banker Divya Mishra said she has not yet mustered the courage to tell their mother that Divya is dead and that her body is lying in a post-mortem house freezer.Divya was allegedly shot dead by her estranged husband outside her workplace in Lucknow on Thursday.In a post on X, Pragya Mishra, a journalist and YouTuber, said she had told their mother that Divya’s condition was critical and that she was sleeping beside her.“Today, Divya’s postmortem couldn’t be done; a time of 9-10am has been given. I still haven’t mustered the courage to tell Mom. I’ve lied that Divya’s condition is critical and put her to sleep beside me,” Pragya wrote.“For the first time, it feels like how difficult it is to tell the truth. She’s in the postmortem house freezer. I couldn’t bring myself to say this truth, ” Pragya added.Pragya further alleged that Divya had told her that Manas would beat her over seemingly minor issues.She cited an incident involving tomatoes ordered through Blinkit, alleging that Manas beat Divya and questioned how she could have ordered tomatoes that turned out to be bad.“If a tomato from the ones ordered on Blinkit turned out bad, he would beat her, saying, “How did you order on Blinkit that the tomato turned out bad?” According to my sister, ” Pragya added.Pragya also alleged that Manas and his sister had beaten their mother so severely that his ailing mother died. She said Divya only wanted to separate from Manas and had decided to seek a divorce.“The murderer and his sister had beaten their mother so severely that his ailing mother died. Divya just wanted to separate from the murderer. My sister had told me that there had even been a scuffle with the counsellor in family court,” Pragya further added.Pragya further claimed that Divya had told her there had been a scuffle involving Manas and a counsellor in family court.How the killings unfoldedThe killings allegedly took place within around 30 minutes.Police said Manas reached the bank around 12.15pm, where he had a brief argument with Divya before allegedly shooting her.He then returned home, killed his sister and died by suicide.The incident unfolded in broad daylight outside a private bank branch, triggering panic among bank employees and people in the area.WhatsApp status after killingA WhatsApp status purportedly posted by Manas after the first killing said he had killed his wife because she had “cheated” on him and that he would then kill himself and his sister.Police are examining the status as part of the investigation.
