Gorakhpur: Calling for major changes in the Ayodhya Ram temple trust’s functioning, BJP MLC Devendra Pratap Singh wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, demanding a fair and transparent investigation into the alleged theft from the donation box. Speaking to TOI on Tuesday, he said he mailed and posted the letter on X. Singh said the Ram Temple is a symbol of faith for millions of devotees and that the theft has deeply hurt public sentiment and alleged the incident reflects serious lapses in the accountability of the temple administration and trust officials.The MLC questioned why no action was taken despite indications that the theft was detected earlier, saying the delay raises concerns about the responsibility and conduct of those managing the temple affairs.Singh said thanks to strong administrative systems and accountability mechanisms in prominent temples in south India, such incidents were rare. He argued that those associated with the trust and temple management failed in their duties and should be removed to restore public confidence.To strengthen transparency and rebuild trust among devotees, Singh suggested three measures: priority should be given to including descendants of Lord Ram in the temple trust; families of those who sacrificed their lives for the Ram Temple movement should be represented in the trust; individuals who played a key role in the Ram Temple campaign, along with their family members, should be given responsibilities in the trust.
