DMK, PMK, VCK condemn Centre for NEET suicides

Chennai: Political parties in Tamil Nadu have criticised the Union govt for NEET suicides in Tamil Nadu. DMK has said the party’s students wing would hold a protest on Tuesday.“Ever since NEET was introduced, there were forgery incidents every year due to which there were suicides. This year, after the cancellation of NEET exam till the re-test was conducted, there were 15 suicides across the country,” DMK students wing secretary J Veeramani.Condemning the Union BJP govt, he said a protest would be held on Tuesday.Anbumani said on X that in the span of 24 hours, there were two suicides, one in Krishnagiri and one in Dharmapuri. “Earlier, a student died in Coimbatore on June 17 and another student from Edappadi died on June 19, making it four suicides in four days. If this tragedy should stop, NEET should either be banned across the country or TN should be given exemption from NEET,’’ he said.VCK chief Thol Thirumavalavan issued a statement condemning the NEET suicides and urged TVK govt take legal steps to seek exemption for TN from NEET.
