Mumbai: Late celebrity manager Disha Salian’s father, Satish Salian, visited the residence of Shiv Sena (UBT) functionary Aaditya Thackeray at Matoshree on Saturday to hand over a Rs 500 crore defamation notice through his lawyer, alleging that Aaditya had posted false statements on X accusing him of political motives and of spreading wrong propaganda relating to the investigation of his daughter’s death. He also alleged his lawyers had been threatened by Sena (UBT) netas and told they would not be allowed to practise law.“We will show them the power of the common man,” said Salian. “The truth always wins, like it did in the Mahabharata,” he added.“They had threatened that our lawyers would not be allowed to practice. Then they were accusing us of personal enmity. But the fact is that the court allowed our petition seeking a CBI probe,” said Salian’s lawyer Nilesh Ojha.Denying any political motive behind his pursuit of the case, Salian said, “I am not political, nor was my daughter. Was politics a consideration when my daughter was raped and killed?”In his post on X on Sept 16, Thackeray had denied ever meeting Salian, who was late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s manager, and said that attempts to link his name to her death were part of a false campaign arising out of personal enmity and political motives.His post had come days after the CBI registered an FIR in connection with Salian’s death, following a directive from Bombay high court for a thorough probe. Salian died in 2020 after falling from a building. The CBI FIR did not name any accused but named several people whose roles require investigation, including Thackeray.Meanwhile, Shiv Sea (UBT) neta Varun Sardesai responded to Salian’s notice by saying, “This is just an attempt to get cheap publicity by bringing a notice to Matoshree. There is nothing in this case. Aaditya Thackeray had not met either Sushant Singh Rajput or Disha Salian, but his name is continuously dragged into this for political reasons. Those making the allegations should produce one single proof on this and then talk,” said Sardesai.
