Gurgaon: The direct selling market has expanded from Rs 3,000 crore in 2015 to Rs 30,000 crore in 2025-26 nationwide, making it one of the fastest-growing sectors, chief minister Nayab Singh Saini said in Gurgaon.Haryana is among the leading states in the industry, with annual turnover now estimated at Rs 2,000-2,200 crore, with more than six lakh people engaged in it, over 60% of them women, he added.Addressing a gathering at Vijay Parv, organised by AWPL at Leisure Valley Ground, Sector 29, Saini said direct selling has evolved into a platform for employment generation, women empowerment and social transformation. “The industry’s reach into small towns and rural areas is strengthening the local economy,” he said.He added that the Direct Selling Rules, 2021, framed by the central govt, have provided legal recognition, transparency and security to the industry, boosting consumer confidence and ensuring a safer environment for lakhs of people associated with the sector.The event was also attended by Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, cabinet ministers Vipul Goyal and Rao Narbir Singh, MLAs Mukesh Sharma and Bimla Chaudhary, and AWPL MD & CEO Sanjeev Kumar, along with Sandeep Hindustani.“Traditionally, Vijay Parv marks victory in wars. The programme in Gurgaon celebrates victory over struggles, despair and unemployment,” he said, adding that the youth represents the biggest strength of Viksit Bharat-Viksit Haryana.Highlighting the skills-driven nature of the sector, Saini said direct selling promotes communication, leadership, marketing and personality development. “This is a multidimensional industry operating in health and wellness, Ayurveda, nutrition, personal care, beauty, home care, agriculture, food and beverages, fashion and lifestyle. It connects with consumers and entrepreneurs across all segments,” the chief minister said. He added that the state is indirectly promoting the sector through the skill development mission, women self-help groups and startup schemes.Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Dhami said his govt is enhancing tourism experiences through homestay initiatives aimed at giving travellers a home-like experience. He also highlighted the state’s progress in ease of doing business, film-friendly initiatives and women empowerment.
