Dibrugarh: Floods destroyed academic records and disrupted the admission process, prompting Dibrugarh University to announce relief measures for affected students.Vice-chancellor Jiten Hazarika said in a notification on Friday that students unable to travel to the university may complete admission formalities online. The measure covers remaining programmes for which admissions are still conducted offline, including the five-year integrated programme under the Common University Entrance Test category.Students from flood-hit areas, particularly Sivasagar, Charaideo, Jorhat and adjoining districts, have been asked to contact the relevant department or admission cell for the online procedure.The university said several flood-affected families lost educational certificates, mark sheets and other academic records. Current and former students may seek priority reissue of lost documents by submitting a written application to the controller of examinations or to the relevant section.Applications must include an undertaking or affidavit about the loss and will be subject to the usual verification process. They must be submitted within three months of the notification.Officials said the measures followed representations from students and guardians facing difficulties travelling because of inundated roads and disrupted transport links.The university advised students requiring assistance to remain in contact with their departments and the admission cell for updates.
