Dibrugarh admin orders coaching centres to submit fire safety compliance reports within 10 days

Dibrugarh: The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) of Dibrugarh has issued an urgent notice directing all coaching centres in the district to immediately ensure compliance with fire safety and life safety norms, warning that non-compliant establishments will be sealed within 15 days.The notice was issued by additional district commissioner-cum-CEO of DDMA Dibrugarh Jayant Charan on Friday. It comes in the wake of growing concerns over fire safety standards at private coaching centres across the district.All coaching centres have been asked to review existing safety arrangements and ensure strict adherence to the National Building Code of India, 2016, Part 4, which deals with fire and life safety provisions. Institutions must submit a formal compliance report to the DDMA office within 10 days, along with copies of valid fire safety certificates or no objection certificates (NOCs), building safety documents and other supporting materials.“Failure to submit the compliance report within the stipulated period or failure to comply with the aforesaid fire safety and life safety requirements shall invite appropriate action under the applicable laws, rules and regulations in force,” the notice stated.Coaching centres found to be operating without adequate fire safety measures after the 15-day deadline will be sealed by the competent authority, in addition to any other legal action as applicable.
