New Delhi: Ahead of BRICS Summit, Delhi Police has asked neighbouring states to step up border checking, share advance intelligence on suspicious persons and vehicles and closely monitor drones and other flying objects to prevent any security breach during the three-day event.These measures were discussed at an interstate coordination meeting held at the Delhi Police headquarters Thursday, which was chaired by Delhi Police commissioner Anurag Kumar. The summit is scheduled to be held in New Delhi from Sept 11 to 13.Senior officers from Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chandigarh attended the meeting along with senior Delhi Police officers from law and order, special cell, traffic, security, crime, transport and intelligence units. Officers from the Intelligence Bureau and Special Branch also participated.The meeting focused on preventing unauthorised movement across the borders and ensuring prompt sharing of information about the movement of suspicious elements or vehicles. Officers also discussed intensified checking at entry points and verification of suspicious persons and vehicles. The movement of drones and other flying objects from open areas was also discussed.Traffic restrictions to be imposed during the summit were discussed with the neighbouring states. Police officers were asked to regulate non-destined vehicles and ensure that alternative routes for commuters remain free of encroachments and unauthorised parking.The commissioner stressed that security arrangements should cause minimum inconvenience to the public. He directed officers to widely publicise traffic restrictions. NCR police forces were also requested to issue traffic advisories in their respective jurisdictions.Meanwhile, Delhi Traffic Police senior officers held a separate meeting with representatives of the Bar Associations of Supreme Court, Delhi High Court and Patiala House Court to brief them about the traffic management plan for the summit.The representatives were informed about specific traffic diversions and parking arrangements being put in place to manage congestion and parking-related issues and minimise inconvenience to lawyers, litigants and other court visitors during the summit.
