New Delhi: Delhi Congress president Devender Yadav Wednesday alleged that someone fraudulently tried to file Form 8 on his behalf to make “corrections” in his voter ID card.“I came to know only when a message came on my phone specifying OTP for user ID on the ECI portal,” he said after filing complaints with the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Delhi, and the station house officer of Samaypur Badli police station. Form 8 is submitted by registered voters to request changes, corrections or updates to their details in the electoral roll and the voter ID card.Yadav claimed the incident was a glaring example of misuse of Special Intensive Revision proceedings in Delhi. If a Form 8 can be filled on his behalf without consent, what would be happening with lakhs of poor people whose names have been deleted for one reason or another, he wondered. Yadav demanded that the CEO probe the matter and file an FIR to get at the root of the mischief and punish the culprits. An official from the CEO’s office said, “Before submitting their reports, booth-level officers verify the details on the ground. The report is submitted only after such verification. This matter needs to be checked before any conclusion is drawn.”Meanwhile, AAP protested outside the CEO’s office against alleged “vote chori”. It said votes were deleted during the 2025 Delhi Assembly election to defeat senior AAP candidates, including former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal. Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor said AAP was making baseless allegations against the election commission to cover up its failures.
