Gurgaon: After the publication of the draft electoral roll on July 31, the focus has now shifted to ensuring that every eligible voter is included before the final list is released.The district administration has urged citizens whose names are missing from the draft roll not to panic, saying they can apply for inclusion, correction or other changes in the electoral roll till Aug 30. More than 4.5 lakh registered voters in the city have been left out of the draft electoral roll.Deputy commissioner and district election officer Uttam Singh said eligible citizens — whose names do not appear in the draft electoral roll — can submit Form 6 through their booth-level officer (BLO) or apply online or offline for inclusion.For corrections in name, address or other personal details, voters should submit Form-8 along with the prescribed declaration to the ERO or assistant electoral registration officer (AERO) before Aug 30.According to Uttam Singh, the publication of the draft roll marks the beginning of the claims and objections process, during which voters should carefully verify their name, address and other particulars and seek corrections wherever required.“No voter should assume that their voting rights have been permanently lost merely because their name does not appear in the draft list,” he said, asking residents to first verify their details and then file claims or objections, if required.The DC said the ongoing SIR exercise is based on July 1, 2026, as the qualifying date. Citizens who have attained the age of 18 years by that date are eligible to enrol as first-time voters by submitting Form-6.Citizens can verify their electoral details on ceoharyana.gov.in or contact their respective BLOs for assistance.All claims and objections received during the revision exercise will be disposed of by Sept 28 and the final photo electoral roll will be published on Oct 3.The claims and objections process has begun in all four assembly constituencies of the district under Election Commission of India’s special intensive revision (SIR)-2026.Official data shows the city had 15.5 lakh registered voters as of June 1. However, the draft roll published on July 31 contains only around 11 lakh names, leaving over 4.5 lakh electors out because enumeration forms were not submitted during the door-to-door verification exercise. Percentage-wise, the city has recorded the steepest decline in Haryana, with nearly 30% of registered voters missing from the draft roll.Officials said the omitted 4.5 lakh voters fall under the ‘uncollected/ASDD’ category, meaning their enumeration forms were not received during the verification drive.In addition, 2.2 lakh voter records contain anomalies that require scrutiny, while 19,206 electors are yet to be mapped to polling stations.These voters will receive notices and will have to submit supporting documents before the electoral registration officers (EROs) prior to preparation of the final electoral roll.The DC said applicants receiving notices for hearings during the disposal of claims and objections must appear before the designated authority on the scheduled date to present their case, ensuring timely and fair disposal of applications.Constituency-wise figures reflect the extent of omissions across the district. Badshapur, the largest constituency, has about 3.7 lakh names in the draft roll against 5.4 lakh registered voters earlier.Gurgaon assembly has around 2.7 lakh names, down from 4.5 lakh. Sohna has 2.5 lakh names against 3 lakh earlier, while Pataudi has 2.2 lakh names compared with 2.6 lakh in the previous electoral roll.
