Sonipat: Congress MP from Rohtak, Deepender Hooda, on Saturday demanded the resignation of the Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) chairman over alleged paper leak cases in the state and called on chief minister Nayab Singh Saini to accept responsibility for what he described as a collapse of the recruitment system.Addressing a public gathering at Farmana village in Sonipat district’s Kharkhoda constituency, Hooda alleged that Haryana had emerged as the “number one state” in paper leak incidents, claiming repeated controversies had severely eroded the credibility of the state ‘s recruitment and examination process. Drawing a comparison with the resignation of former Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Hooda questioned why similar accountability had not been fixed in Haryana.

“If the Union education minister could resign over examination-related controversies, why has the HPSC chairman not stepped down over the alleged paper leak cases in Haryana?” he asked. The Congress leader accused the BJP govt of failing to safeguard the interests of students and job aspirants. He also alleged irregularities in recruitment agencies, including HPSC, and demanded a thorough overhaul of the examination and recruitment system.Hooda further criticised the police action against students protesting over examination-related issues, alleging that the use of force reflected the govt’s intolerance towards dissent. “In a democracy, dialogue—not lathi charge—is the way to resolve differences,” he said, while claiming that students were subjected to excessive force during recent protests. He maintained that the resignation of the Union education minister represented only “half the battle” and asserted that the opposition would continue to press for systemic reforms in the education and recruitment framework until greater transparency and accountability were ensured.
