The incident occurred in Mohalla Tikkigran, near Paach Neem Cemetery behind Idgah Mosque in Galtagate area. The nearly 30-square-yard building developed wide cracks on both sides, forcing police, civil defence personnel and residents to evacuate all occupants. Authorities barricaded all three lanes leading to the house and warned people to stay away as the structure could collapse at any time.The house belongs to Rehana Sultan, a widow who relied entirely on rental income from the five tenant families living in the building to support her household.

“I came to know about the cracks only today after neighbours noticed them from the back of the building,” Sultan said. “Jaipur Municipal Corporation inspected the property in the morning and declared it unsafe,” she added.She said officials informed her that demolition appeared to be the only viable option. “This house was my only source of income. My husband is no longer alive, and after my father’s death, my brothers gave me this property during the family division. I have one married daughter and two children living with me. I don’t know how we will manage if the house is demolished,” she said.Her brother, Nadeem Khan, said the family took possession of the nearly 25-year-old property about a year ago to provide Sultan with a steady source of rental income. “We never imagined the structure was in such a weak condition,” he said.

Santalal Makkad, deputy commissioner of Hawa Mahal-Amer Zone, said, “The area has been barricaded, and a technical inspection is underway. The building will be demolished in the next 24 hours. As a precaution, nearby houses have also been vacated, and residents have shifted to night shelters and temporary accommodation,” he said.No injuries were reported, but several families have been displaced.
