Pune: Minister of state for home Yogesh Kadam, speaking in the legislative council on Friday, said a report will be sought from Pune police commissioner Amitesh Kumar on ‘anti-national’ activities in and around Kondhwa area to take a call on setting up an office of additional police commissioner.BJP MLC Yogesh Tilekar, talking about crime in Kondhwa, cited ATS actions in the area. “Anti-national activities in the recent past in Kondhwa Khurd, Mithanagar, Kausarbaug and adjoining areas are a major concern not only for the city and state but also for the country. In some cases, anti-India slogans were raised,” he said.He added that considering the presence of anti-national elements, govt should set up a special security cell headed by an officer of additional commissioner of police. “Govt should also provide additional police personnel in the area to crack down against the terrorists’ sleeper cells,” he said.Kadam, in his reply, said, “The Pune police commissioner will submit a detailed report on the questions raised regarding anti-national activities in the area. The report will be discussed with the chief minister and a decision on setting up an office of additional police commissioner will be made.”He assured the council that the number of police personnel will be increased as per the needs of the Pune police. “Regular combing operations will be carried out to ensure no anti-national activity takes place,” he added.
