DC warns against baseless complaints; inspects Kalka rehab centre

Panchkula: Deputy commissioner Satpal Sharma has warned of strict action against those filing baseless or malicious complaints against de-addiction centres or other institutions.The warning came during a surprise inspection of the Krishna Foundation De-addiction Counselling and Rehabilitation Centre at Dhatogda village in Kalka Tuesday.Sharma interacted with patients undergoing treatment and encouraged them to stay committed to a drug-free life. He held individual discussions to assess living conditions, medical care, daily routine and any difficulties faced by inmates.The DC said the visit was aimed at ensuring the centre was functioning as per prescribed norms and providing proper care. He reviewed overall maintenance, inspected various sections and examined patient records, admission registers and daily activity logs.He directed the management to ensure police verification of all admitted patients and mandated that admissions be done only in the presence of parents or legal guardians. He also checked the attendance of security personnel and stressed on strict vigilance and adequate security to prevent any untoward incidents or unauthorised movement.Reiterating that all centres must adhere to govt norms, Sharma said patients should receive treatment and medicines as per standards.Officials said the facility was found compliant with mandated parameters. While urging citizens to report genuine irregularities, the DC cautioned that action would be taken against those making false complaints without evidence.
