Lucknow: Evenings at the Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Samajik Parivantan Sthal in Gomtinagar are set to take on a new dimension, with the start of a light and sound show that brings alive the life and legacy of Ambedkar on Tuesday. The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) developed the facility at a cost of about Rs18.40 crore. The project blends six high-end projection, lighting and sound elements to narrate Babasaheb’s journey from his early years to his pivotal role in drafting the Constitution. The 30-minute presentation, which will run daily at 7:30pm, features a specially produced film accompanied by music and narration.Six high-intensity projectors, each with 30,000 lumens capacity, have been installed to ensure clear visuals across the expansive premises.Adding a familiar voice to the experience, voice-over artist Harish Bhimani – recognised as the iconic narrator of the television series Mahabharat – lent his narration to the film, enhancing its dramatic appeal.A trial run of the show has been underway since Apr 25. With its formal launch, the memorial now offers not just a visual spectacle but a reflective space where history, technology and public memory converge.LDA officials said the show is designed to go beyond the memorial’s architectural appeal, offering visitors a more immersive way to engage with Ambedkar’s ideas on equality, education and social justice.LDA vice-chairman Prathamesh Kumar said the initiative aims to connect younger audiences with Ambedkar’s philosophy in a format that is both engaging and accessible. “The idea is to make history speak to people, especially the youth, through a medium they relate to,” he said.A children’s play area is also being developed within the complex, aimed at making the site more family-friendly. Officials said the facility is nearing completion.
