Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a disproportionate assets (DA) case against a prohibition and excise inspector after allegedly uncovering assets worth over Rs 2 crore during searches.The accused, Gundeti Ramu (42), is currently serving as prohibition and excise inspector in Karimnagar Urban and was previously posted in Vemulawada.ACB officials said a criminal misconduct case was registered against Ramu on March 17, following which he was arrested and remanded to judicial custody. He is presently out on bail. Based on evidence gathered during searches and subsequent probe, the bureau registered a DA case on Wednesday and conducted fresh searches at his rented residence in Bhavani Nagar, Jagtial, on Thursday.During the searches, ACB teams recovered Rs 20.6 lakh cash, bank deposits of Rs 29.8 lakh in Ramu’s account and Rs 16.7 lakh in his father’s account, household articles worth Rs 12 lakh, a residential plot in Karimnagar and a commercial property in Sircilla.According to ACB officials, the official value of the assets detected is Rs 87.4 lakh, while their estimated market value exceeds Rs 2 crore.
