Ahmedabad: As the city prepares to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games and vies to become Olympics venue in 2036, AMC is planning to develop new roads.The new roads will have a uniform design. A proposal to formulate a Comprehensive Street Standard Policy for laying new roads has been approved. The roads are to be built before Commonwealth Games.According to the proposal placed before the road and building committee, “The plan is to prepare major roads…determining cross-sections according to the ROW (Right of Way).”The proposal to appoint HCP Design, Planning & Management Pvt Ltd as the consultant for the project has been approved.The proposal says, “The consultant will have to prepare the toolkit for the comprehensive planning of Ahmedabad’s roads at a lump-sum limit of Rs 25 lakh based on man-hours (excluding GST and travel allowance).”As of now, seven iconic roads are being developed in the city for Rs 450 crore. Sports precinct development and development in other areas have been approved for Rs 500 crore.A 26km road between Nana Chiloda and Sanathal Road will be developed as a North-South Corridor at a cost of Rs 660 crore.A road between Ognaj and Odhav will be developed as an East-West Corridor at a cost of Rs 100 crore.Road-laying and widening operations are expected to affect 8,767 properties.In all, 4,543 properties will be affected during the laying of 103 roads.
