Mansa: Amid uncertainty looming over the post-mortem of anti-drug activist Parvinder Singh Jhota, the state govt formed panel on Wednesday placed Mansa DSP Harjinder Singh Gill and drug inspector Neeraj Kumar under suspension. A few days ago, Mansa City 2 police station SHO Inspector Beant Kaur was suspended. On Wednesday, speculations were rife about the family agreeing for post mortem after a team from CBI had arrived after midnight to initiate investigations. After the CBI team met Singh’s family, the focus shifted to Mansa civil hospital as word was floated that the family had agreed for the postmortem.Clearing her stand, Parvinder Singh’ widow Manpreet Kaur said, “It pains me that unverified issues are being forwarded without taking a version of the bereaved family or the insaf committee. Words are being spread that the family has agreed for the post mortem, which is untrue. We only met a team from the CBI, but not signed any document and not given any consent for post mortem. The insaf committee will look into this, and even if the insaf committee agrees for the post mortem, even then the consent of the protesting people will be taken.”“We are also pained that the medical store was demolished. It is like destroying crucial evidence in the case. We never demanded that the shop and the home of the accused be razed,” she added.Meanwhile, it has been learnt that some breakthrough was achieved in the second meeting of the state govt formed panel with the insaf committee held at Mansa on Wednesday evening. The first meeting was held on Oct 19, which had remained inconclusive. It has been learnt that the govt panel has agreed to sympathetically consider the 12 of the 14 demands. The action committee raised various issues in the meeting, which was attended by Faridkot divisional commissioner Kanwalpreet Kaur Brar, former deputy commissioner of Mansa Apneet Riyait and present deputy commissioner Navjot Kaur along with Bathinda Range DIG Harjit Singh and Mansa SSP Vaibhav Chaudhary. Both the govt formed panel and insaf committee stayed away from explaining as to what transpired during the meeting.
