Lucknow: To accelerate implementation of CM Yuva Scheme, UP govt on Thursday launched a training programme that will create workforce of certified credit counsellors. The scheme aims to simplify access to bank credit for aspiring entrepreneurs, particularly in MSME sector and targets to connect 1.5 lakh youth to self-employment opportunities in 2026-27.Training would be in two phases, covering 50 districts in first batch and 25 in second. On completion, around 90 certified credit counsellors will be deployed across districts to assist beneficiaries with loan applications, documentation and project preparation.“Counsellors are crucial link between MSME entrepreneurs and banks, guiding applicants on suitable loan schemes and helping them prepare project reports, financial statements and documentation,” said officials.The programme also aims to improve financial literacy among youth, with sessions focusing on credit ratings, CIBIL scores and project planning, enabling entrepreneurs to access credit easily to sustain business.Training in this Reserve Bank of India-approved course will be with support from Small Industries Development Bank of India and Indian Institute of Banking and Finance. It would also provide opportunities for experienced professionals, including retired banking officials, to contribute as certified counsellors. The scheme is based on recommendations of RBI’s Financial Inclusion Committee.
