Noida: A 28-year-old migrant labourer was allegedly killed by his cousin following an argument at their rented accommodation in Rampur Fatehpur village in Dadri on Sunday night. Police said the accused, Imran, attacked Shahid with an axe before fleeing the spot. He remains absconding.According to police, Shahid and Imran, cousins from Ramai village in Bihar’s Araria, had come to Greater Noida in search of work and were employed as labourers. They had been living together in a rented room in Rampur Fatehpur village.Police said the two men were in the room on Sunday night when an argument broke out over an unknown issue. The dispute escalated, following which Imran allegedly picked up an axe kept inside the room and attacked Shahid.Shahid suffered severe injuries to his head and other parts of the body and collapsed inside the room. He died at the spot, police said.Imran allegedly fled after the attack. The incident came to light after people nearby noticed the situation and informed police. A team from Dadri police station reached the spot and inspected the room. Police recovered the axe allegedly used in the attack and sent Shahid’s body for autopsy after completing the legal formalities.Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances leading to the attack and are conducting searches to locate Imran. Officers said the motive was not immediately clear and would be established during the investigation. Statements of people familiar with the two men are also being recorded.Further action will be taken based on the autopsy report and other evidence collected during the investigation, police said.
