Mapusa: The court of the JMFC, Pernem, has issued summons to 54 individuals, including Fatorda MLA and GFP president Vijai Sardesai, in connection with the 2025 agitation at Manohar International Airport, Mopa. The accused have been ordered to appear before the court on June 15.The case stems from a massive protest staged by local taxi operators on Sept 29 against the GMR-led airport management. The agitation was sparked by a steep hike in parking fees which reportedly jumped from Rs 70 to Rs 200 and the imposition of heavy penalties on taxis stopping for more than five minutes to drop passengers.Following a chargesheet filed by Pernem police, the court initiated legal proceedings against the group. Key figures summoned include taxi association leader Nikhil Mahale.Sources said that investigators relied on CCTV footage from the airport to identify participants. The protesters had originally demanded a rollback of the “exorbitant” fees and sought priority for Pernem-based taxi operators at the international gateway.
