Kolkata: The Parnasree Police has been asked to lodge an First Information Report (FIR) after a man, identified as Manash Dhali, sought judicial intervention in an alleged case of abduction attempt. The victim, a resident of Parnasree Pally, has alleged that he was forced to sign blank documents. He also alleged that the police have failed to take action on his complaint. The incident took place close to Brace Bridge off Taratala in May earlier this year.According to the petition submitted before the court by Dhali , the incident unfolded on May 11. The victim had reached the Brace Bridge railway station area. The victim was suddenly intercepted by the prime suspect while proceeding towards the Jinjira Bazar Loha Pole crossing. The suspect was accompanied by a gang of about ten individuals.The group began threatening Dhali. When the victim attempted to protest and resist the confrontation, the gang launched a physical assault. During the ongoing attack, the prime suspect reportedly called two key co-conspirators. The petition alleged that these two individuals explicitly instructed the gang. The duo asked the gang to kill the victim.Following these , the accused physically overpowered the victim and attempted to force him into a waiting getaway vehicle. While attempting the abduction, the assailants forced the victim to place signatures on three blank sheets of white paper. The victim’s desperate screams for help attracted local residents and passersby, who rushed to the spot, disrupting the abduction plot.The victim managed to contact the local Parnasree police station from the spot with help from his rescuers. A police team arrived at the scene and transported the victim, along with a couple of suspects detained by locals to the police station.However, the petitioner prayed ordeal continued outside the police station premises, where the two co-conspirators who had ordered the operation on the phone reportedly arrived too and allegedly issued open threats to the victim. The victim’s wife subsequently rushed to the spot upon being informed.The Parnasree Police denied there was any threat issued to anyone and that each one involved is being served notices to them to join investigations. They claimed that a case of personal enmity was being “blown out of proportion.”The petitioner stated that after recovering from the immediate trauma of the event, a formal written complaint was dispatched via speed post to the local police station.However, the victim claimed that no legal action allegedly followed. Alleging total police inaction and a failure to register an First Information Report (FIR) despite a criminal conspiracy launched by more than one person, the victim claimed he was compelled to approach the judiciary. Following the court order, an FIR has been lodged and an investigation launched, said sources at Lalbazar.
