Hisar: In a tragic turn to a couple’s suicide pact, a 24-year-old woman from a Bhiwani village died by hanging at a hotel in Hisar, while her 26-year-old partner survived and now faces serious charges of rape and murder based on her family’s allegations.The couple, who shared a romantic relationship, had checked into the hotel on Saturday evening. The woman and the man feared their families would never approve of their marriage, prompting the desperate decision. Early Sunday morning, they decided to end their lives. The woman went first, hanging herself. As she writhed in agony, the man panicked, attempted to follow suit, but quickly removed the noose from his neck and escaped death. He locked the room and wandered in the city aimlessly for nearly 12 hours. Around 7pm, he returned to the hotel, collected his bag and walked into the city police station to report the incident. Officers rushed to the scene, recovered the woman’s body, and informed her family. A post-mortem examination was promptly conducted, and the body was handed over to her relatives after formalities. City police station in-charge Amit Kundu said the family had alleged the man first raped the deceased before staging the suicide as a cover for murder. “We’ve registered a case of murder and rape against him on their complaint. The investigation is on, but further action will depend on the autopsy report,” he said.
