Pune: The Pimpri Chinchwad crime branch on Thursday arrested two men in Chakan and seized 84kg of ganja worth Rs42 lakh. The police also seized an SUV allegedly used to transport the contraband.A team from the anti-narcotics cell, led by senior police inspector Mahesh Patil, nabbed the duo — Aniket Birangal (24) of Chakan and Kushal Pathak (24) of Kothrud — based on a tip-off received by police constables Nikhil Varpe and Vijay Daundkar.An officer from the Pimpri Chinchwad crime branch said that during patrolling, the police team noticed an SUV moving suspiciously. “They stopped the vehicle and checked it. They found 84kg of ganja inside. The value of the ganja is Rs42 lakh. The police also seized the SUV, three cellphones and cash from the two occupants,” the officer said. He said the police are investigating where the duo procured the ganja from. A case was registered with the North Chakan police, he said.
