Noida: Police destroyed more than 972kg of narcotic substances, with a total value of over Rs 5.2 crore, under Operation Dahan. The destruction was carried out on Tuesday under the supervision of the DCP (narcotics) following court orders. The contraband was seized in 253 cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at six police stations across the district.The seized substances included over 907.6kg of ganja, estimated to be worth Rs 4.53 crore, along with 63.7kg of doda valued at around Rs 9.56 lakh. Cops also destroyed 552 grams of charas, valued at approximately Rs 1.38 lakh, 115 grams of cocaine, worth around Rs 57.50 lakh, and 4 grams of MDMA, estimated at Rs 40,000. Around 240 intoxicating tablets were also destroyed.Police said the disposal was conducted in accordance with prescribed procedures through an authorised agency.Badalpur police station accounted for the largest quantity of seized narcotics, with material connected to 97 cases being destroyed. The disposal included over 630.8kg of ganja, 62kg of doda, 180 grams of charas and 100 grams of cocaine.At Sector 63 police station, narcotics linked to 57 cases, comprising over 108kg of ganja, were destroyed. At Sector 113, material connected to 53 cases included around 74kg of ganja. Sector 126 police station disposed of narcotics linked to 30 cases, including nearly 67.7kg of ganja, 372 grams of charas, 15 grams of cocaine and 4 grams of MDMA.At Sector 39 police station, narcotics seized across 15 cases included 24kg of ganja, over 1kg of doda and 240 grams of intoxicating tablets. Rabupura police, meanwhile, disposed of over 2kg of ganja linked to one case.Police said the disposal was undertaken as part of efforts to ensure the lawful disposal of seized narcotics after completion of the required legal process. Similar action will continue across the commissionerate to ensure the timely disposal of seized contraband in accordance with court orders and established procedures, police added.
