Panaji: Police arrested a 24-year-old Nepalese national Arjun Sharma, while his alleged accomplice, Ramesh Bahadur, remains absconding, in connection with an attempted murder of man in Panaji.The victim, Altaf Chapparbanch (23), who is a taxi driver and a resident of Chimbel, told police that Sharma, his friend, called him to a Panaji residence on Tuesday evening. On reaching the room, Altaf found a common friend present, while Sharma arrived later with Bahadur.According to Altaf, the group was watching TV when he allegedly saw Sharma hand a koita to Bahadur. Sensing danger, he tried to leave, but Bahadur allegedly restrained him and attacked him with the weapon.Police said Altaf sustained injuries to his hands, left shoulder and leg while attempting to fend off the attack. He managed to escape and run towards Panaji church, where a passerby alerted police and the 108 ambulance service. He was later shifted to GMC for treatment.Altaf alleged that Sharma and Bahadur attacked him over previous enmity with the intention of killing him.PSI Suraj Madgaonkar is investigating the case.
