Hyderabad: Saroornagar police have arrested a 22-year-old auto driver for illegal possession of a country-made pistol and a live round on Sunday night.Acting on specific information, police arrested Md Imran alias Ibbu, a resident of Shankar Nagar in Saroornagar, at 8 pm on Sunday, when he was moving with a country-made pistol at an open place in Bhagath Singh Nagar in Saroornagar.During interrogation, the accused confessed that he was a school dropout from Jampaka Sahit village in Geesugonda mandal of Warangal.“About a year ago, while working in a scrap shop at Rajendranagar, Imran got acquainted with Shakir, a native of Bihar. A few months ago, he purchased the country-made pistol and a live round for ₹40,000 from Shakir with an intention to do illegal activities,” Saroornagar inspector N Srisailam said.According to the inspector, Imran was a habitual property offender and he was previously involved in 17 offences registered at Vanasthalipuram, LB Nagar, Chaitanyapuri, Saroornagar and Hayatnagar police stations. The accused was produced before the court and sent to judicial remand.
