Hyderabad: A constable was arrested for allegedly sexually exploiting a woman colleague with a false promise of marriage and forcing her to undergo abortion multiple times. Due to the trauma, the woman attempted suicide by consuming sleeping pills. She survived the bid and is recuperating at hospital.The woman constable, who has a four-year-old son, has applied for divorce from her husband, who also happens to be a constable. While the divorce proceedings were still on, the accused became close to her. “With a false promise to marry her, he sexually exploited her. Due to the exploitation, she became pregnant twice and the accused forced her to terminate both the pregnancies,” a Jubilee Hills police officer said.Recently, the survivor came to know that the accused became close to another woman constable. She caught the accused red-handed when he was with the new friend and warned her to stay away from him.The accused told the woman that he was not planning to marry her any more and picked up an argument for spoiling his chance to marry the other constable. Upset, the victim consumed a large dose of sleeping pills on April 14 at her room. She fell unconscious and woke up on April 16. The survivor contacted her colleagues, and they rushed her to a private hospital in Somajiguda.After the medical treatment, her condition stabilised and, based on her statement, the Jubilee Hills police booked a case against the accused under Section 69 (sexual intercourse by employing deceitful means, etc) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) on Friday. The accused was arrested on Saturday.
