Construction worker held for friend’s murder in Thergaon

Pune: A construction worker allegedly stabbed his friend, a fellow worker, to death over a monetary dispute in Thergaon on Monday.Kalewadi police identified the deceased as Kashinath Wavale (40), a resident of Thergaon. His friend, Yallappa Alandkar (40), has been arrested under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).An officer from Kalewadi police said Wavale and Alandkar were construction workers living in the same locality. “On Sunday night, the accused had a heated argument with the victim over money. The victim had told his wife that the accused claimed to have lent Rs1 lakh to him and was demanding repayment.”Around 7 am on Monday, the accused came to the victim’s house. “While they were having tea, the accused allegedly took out a knife and stabbed the victim five times in the stomach. The victim’s wife and daughter tried to rescue him, but the accused threatened them and fled. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital and succumbed to his injuries during treatment,” the officer said.
