Hyderabad: Congress MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy on Sunday appealed to all MPs from Telangana to press the Centre for approval and release of funds for key projects, including the Hyderabad Metro Rail, Musi rejuvenation and the Regional Ring Road (RRR), during the monsoon session of Parliament beginning Monday.“The Centre should ensure the Union cabinet’s approval for the regional ring road (RRR), grant national project status to the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme, approve the takeover of Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-I and to take up works on Phase-II of the project,” he said. The Congress MPs from Telangana will raise these issues in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, he said and urged Union minister G Kishan Reddy and BJP MP Eatela Rajender to work towards this goal.He also requested approval and release of funds under the Union govt’s urban challenge fund, and to establish an Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Telangana. He clarified that these demands were being made solely for the development of the people of Telangana and the interests of the state. He expressed regret that BRS Rajya Sabha members were not attending meetings convened for the state’s interests. He accused BRS working president KTR of making misleading statements instead of taking accountability for the work left undone during the 10-year tenure of the previous BRS govt.KIran Reddy also called for comprehensive discussions in parliament on key national issues like delimitation, NEET paper leak, situation in West Asia, One Nation-One Election proposal, the use of ethanol-blended fuel. “The delimitation bill should not be introduced in a manner that disadvantages southern states and that it be preceded by an extensive parliamentary debate. The Congress would fully support the Women’s Reservation Bill which is not linked to the delimitation,” he said and demanded the resignation of the union education Minister over the NEET paper leak. He also criticised the alleged forcible hospitalisation of Ladakh activist Sonam Wangchuk, calling it undemocratic. The state govt has appointed IAS officer Advait Kumar Singh at Telangana Bhavan in Delhi to coordinate and provide necessary information to all party MPs from the state, regardless of their political affiliations.
