Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Congress Friday organised a candlelight march at Sukhna Lake to remember students who allegedly lost their lives amid repeated paper leak controversies, rising unemployment and growing uncertainty about their future.The march was led by AICC Chandigarh in-charge and former MP Rajni Patil, Chandigarh MP Manish Tewari and Chandigarh Pradesh Congress Committee president HS Lucky.Congress workers participated carrying candles, banners, placards and photographs of students, raising concerns over alleged paper leaks in NEET and other competitive examinations, delays in recruitment processes and the mental stress faced by aspirants.Addressing the gathering, Rajni Patil said lakhs of students spend years preparing for competitive examinations, but repeated paper leak incidents have shaken their faith in the system. She termed the issue a serious injustice to the aspirations of the country’s youth and expressed concern over growing insecurity about their future.MP Manish Tewari said despite India being one of the world’s youngest nations, many young people today felt disappointed due to shrinking employment opportunities and delays in govt recruitment. He alleged that repeated paper leak incidents had undermined the credibility of examination and recruitment processes.The Congress leaders called for greater transparency and accountability in the conduct of competitive examinations and recruitment drives, while urging authorities to address concerns related to youth employment and exam integrity.
