Congress attacks Mann govt, issues ‘Laanat Patra’ over AAP’s failures
Leader of the opposition in Punjab assembly Partap Singh Bajwa and Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Pargat Singh

Chandigarh: Ahead of the assembly session, leader of the opposition Partap Singh Bajwa and Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Pargat Singh on Friday issued a ‘Laanat Patra’ (letter of condemnation) against the Aam Aadmi Party govt, holding chief minister Bhagwant Mann accountable for the deteriorating law-and-order situation and administrative failures. The duo announced they would hand the ‘Laanat Patra’ to CM Mann on the second day of the assembly session. If the CM is absent from the House, the document will be handed over to AAP Punjab president Aman Arora. The Congress functionaries said that govt must be held accountable for serious concerns affecting Punjab, including gangster activity, drug trafficking, extortion demands targeting traders, and the safety of ordinary citizens. They said that govt could not evade responsibility through mere statements and rhetoric. The CM must answer the people of Punjab on why the law-and-order situation is deteriorating and what concrete measures his govt has taken to ensure public safety, the two added.Clarifying their stand on the Parvinder Singh Jhota case, Bajwa and Pargat said that, in accordance with the demands of the victim’s family, neither the post-mortem nor the last rites would be allowed to proceed until CM Mann resigns. They said it was govt’s responsibility to fulfil the family’s demands, ensure justice, and fix accountability in the case. Instead of evading its responsibility, govt must answer the questions raised by the family and the public. Our struggle will continue until justice is delivered to the victim’s family.
