Chandigarh: Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini’s Singapore visit ended Tuesday with investment proposals worth nearly Rs 5,500 crore across healthcare, water infrastructure, education and skill development, with the state govt projecting the proposals to boost jobs, urban services and industrial growth. The largest share, around Rs 3,000 crore, is proposed for the health and wellness sector. The projects are expected to include modern hospitals, wellness centres, medical research facilities and advanced clinical technology. “Investment in the health and wellness sector will not only strengthen healthcare facilities but also create opportunities for employment, skill development and adoption of new technologies,” Saini said while addressing business leaders at the end of the tour.Water treatment and management emerged as the second major area, with proposals worth around Rs 1,500 crore. Drawing on Singapore’s expertise, the projects are expected to include sewage treatment plants, industrial water recycling systems, smart water distribution networks and conservation-linked infrastructure. “Water security is one of the biggest priorities for the future. The partnership between Singapore’s technical expertise and Haryana’s local requirements will open up vital possibilities for resource conservation,” Saini said. The state also secured proposals worth Rs 1,000 crore in education, digital learning and skill development. These are expected to support technical training institutes, job-oriented skilling facilities and digital education platforms aimed at preparing youth for domestic and international employment.During the visit, Saini held discussions with Singapore foreign minister Dr Vivian Balakrishnan on cooperation in skill-based training, urban development and technological innovation. Officials said the talks explored ways to connect Haryana’s youth with global employment opportunities and bring Singapore’s expertise into training, infrastructure and innovation-led sectors.Saini also pitched Haryana as an investment destination, citing its proximity to the National Capital Region, road and freight connectivity, industrial base and manufacturing clusters. He said transparent governance, faster clearances, infrastructure development and skilled manpower had improved investor confidence. “Our objective is not merely to attract investment, but to ensure that investments are grounded within a time-bound framework and create direct employment,” Saini said.‘Will ensure proposals yield tangible benefits’Administrative secretary Amit Aggarwal said govt would put in place a mechanism to monitor the proposals and coordinate with departments to remove bottlenecks. “Our focus is to ensure seamless coordination with all departments concerned, so these investment proposals translate into actual projects swiftly,” he said, adding that the govt would focus on ensuring the proposals yielded tangible benefits for youth and industry.
