CM’s OSD sends defamation notice to Majithia
SAD functionary Bikram Singh Majithia

Chandigarh: Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann’s officer on special duty (OSD), Rajbir Singh Ghuman, has sent a defamation notice to Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia over alleged remarks and accusations made against him.The legal notice comes in response to allegations recently levelled by Majithia against Ghuman, which the OSD has dismissed as completely false, baseless and defamatory. Ghuman has demanded that Majithia remove all related posts, videos and other associated content from public platforms within 24 hours, AAP leaders said.In addition to taking down the material, the notice requires Majithia to issue a public apology for his statements and provide a written assurance that he will refrain from making similar allegations in the future. The OSD has said that failure to comply with these demands within the stipulated timeframe will result in further legal action against the SAD leader.Ghuman had earlier challenged Majithia to provide evidence supporting his corruption allegations or issue an immediate public apology. He had said opposition leaders were troubled by individuals from ordinary backgrounds attaining key governance roles, adding that political rivals had resorted to character assassination after failing to challenge the current administration on its performance and policy record. The controversy stems from a letter by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to the Punjab director general of police (DGP), alleging that certain individuals were using their proximity to government offices to interfere in administrative processes, including influencing transfers and postings, leaking confidential documents and securing official approvals.
