Chandigarh: Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann met governor Gulab Chand Kataria at Punjab Lok Bhawan in Chandigarh on Saturday. The two last met on August 12, when Mann had sought the governor’s intervention for granting a 10-day parole on humanitarian grounds to Jagtar Singh Hawara, who is serving a life sentence.Mann left the Raj Bhavan after the meeting without disclosing the details of the discussion.The meeting comes days after the conclusion of the Punjab Assembly’s Monsoon Session on August 10, during which nine key bills were passed. Among them were the Punjab Regulation of Fee of Un-aided Educational Institutions (Amendment) Bill, 2026, which caps annual fee hikes by private schools at 5%, and the Punjab State Outsourced Personnel (Transition to Contractual Engagement) Bill, 2026.
