Closure of Pune platforms for track maintenance to hit trains’ movement this Sunday
A double diamond crossing’s existing 52kg layout would be upgraded to 60kg during the closure of platforms

Pune: Several trains would be cancelled or short-terminated this Sunday because of the closure of Pune station’s four platforms for eight hours for the ongoing maintenance of a double diamond crossing.Deccan Express, a pair of Pune–Talegaon–Pune suburban locals, Pune–Daund DEMU and Satara–Pune DEMU will remain cancelled on Sunday. Lonavla–Pune and some Talegaon–Pune suburban locals would be short-terminated in Shivajinagar.Officials said the platforms would remain closed at Pune station as an eight-hour block would be undertaken from 8am to 5pm. “The work involves replacement of a double diamond crossing’s existing 52kg layout to 60kg. Train movements from Pune via platforms one to four towards CSMT (Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus) would be affected,” said Hemant Kumar Behera, the divisional commercial manager and PRO of Pune rail division.Trains like Jaipur–Pune Express will short-terminate at Khadki on Saturday and CSMT–Pune Intercity Express will short-terminate at Khadki on Sunday. Jammu Tawi–Pune Express will short-terminate at Hadapsar on Friday and Amravati–Pune Express will short-terminate at Hadapsar on Saturday in addition to Nagpur–Pune Express. Baramati–Pune DEMU will short-terminate at Daund on Sunday.Officials said four Pune-Lonavla suburban trains would short-originate from Shivajinagar on Sunday. “Pune-Kolhapur Express will short-originate from Satara on Sunday, in addition to Pune-Jaipur Express. Pune-CSMT Intercity Express will short-originate from Khadki on Sunday and Pune-Nagpur Express will short-originate from Hadapsar. The timings of some other trains would be regulated by around 30 minutes on Saturday and Sunday,” another railway official said.
