NEW DELHI: With student protests continuing in central Delhi, the city government has directed all liquor shops to close by 8 pm until the weekend, based on police inputs, sources said on Friday.The revised closing time comes after several liquor vends shut earlier than usual on Thursday without any prior announcement, catching many customers by surprise. Liquor shops in Delhi normally remain open till 10 pm.A senior Delhi government official said the decision was taken in view of the prevailing law and order situation around the ongoing protests at Jantar Mantar.Students protesting under the banner of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) have been demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the alleged NEET paper leak. The agitation intensified on July 20, when a Parliament March organised by the CJP turned violent, leaving several protesters and police personnel injured.
