MUMBAI: Mumbai Police have granted permission to members of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) to hold a one-day protest at Azad Maidan on Friday, October 16.The protest is part of the party’s “Lehra Do Tiranga” campaign, launched by founder Abhijeet Dipke following the arrest of CJP leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka in Delhi.Dipke has maintained that waving the national flag is a democratic right and urged citizens to join the demonstration. The party has also called for a parallel Tiranga march in Delhi at 5pm on Friday. The proposed gathering is scheduled at Central Park in Connaught Place, where security has been tightened ahead of the protest. The New Delhi Municipal Council has announced that Central Park will remain closed on Friday and Saturday for administrative reasons. The Delhi protest follows the arrest of CJP leaders after they reached Jantar Mantar and allegedly held a demonstration without authorisation. The party has been protesting against alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
