City sees multiple cases of fire, no injuries

New Delhi: In a narrow escape, two people escaped unharmed after an SUV caught fire opposite Safdarjung Hospital in south Delhi on Saturday evening.According to police, the fire broke out around 10.30 pm while the vehicle was on Ring Road. The driver and the owner noticed smoke coming from the engine and immediately got out. Delhi Fire Service officials brought the blaze under control shortly after.A video of the incident surfaced on Sunday morning, showing the vehicle engulfed in flames on a busy road at night. Thick black smoke can be seen billowing from the SUV. Firefighters are seen deploying hoses to douse the blaze, leaving the vehicle gutted with extensive damage to its engine bay, cabin and structure.In a similar incident earlier this week, four people narrowly escaped after a moving cab caught fire at Azadpur flyover on Thursday afternoon. The DFS received a call around 1.10 pm and dispatched a fire tender, which doused the blaze by 1.35 pm.All occupants of the cab — driver Dishad Ahmed, a woman identified as Laxmi, and her two children — were evacuated with the help of beat constables from Adarsh Nagar police station. Police also retrieved the occupants’ belongings from the vehicle.Another fire was reported on Sunday afternoon from a house in Abul Fazal Enclave of southeast Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh.According to DFS, a call about the fire on the second floor in domestic articles was received around 2.30 pm. Around four fire tenders were dispatched to the spot and the fire was doused by 2.50 pm.No injuries or casualties were reported in any of the incidents.
