JAIPUR: The Jaipur police plans to implement a circular traffic movement system on key stretches of JLN Marg and Jhalana bypass road from Sept, with select portions likely to be converted into one-way corridors to manage congestion during upcoming infrastructure works. The proposal comes in view of parallel projects by Rajasthan Metro Railway Corporation (RMRC) on Tonk Road under Metro Line 2 and Jaipur Development Authority’s (JDA) elevated road project on Jhalana bypass. Officials said the temporary traffic arrangement will remain in place for the duration of construction.“We have held meetings with both agencies. We will finalise a dedicated plan once the projects begin. The system will continue till the works are completed,” a traffic official said.JDA officials said the elevated road from Jhalana Doongri (Aranya Bhawan) crossing to Balaji Tiraha is awaiting metro clearance, as the corridor is planned as a three-layered traffic system.“There is also a space constraint for constructing a ramp on the Tila Number 7 side. We expect to resolve these issues soon and begin construction by Sept-Oct,” a JDA official said.RMRC plans to execute Metro Line 2 in seven phases. Work from Prahladpura to Pinjrapole is expected to begin by May, while the B2B Crossing stretch may start within four months.“With parallel construction on both roads, pressure on JLN Marg will rise. The circular plan is essential to regulate movement and minimise congestion,” another traffic official said.
