As Rocking Star Yash gears up for the release of his upcoming film ‘Toxic’, the actor has been busy with promotional interviews. During a recent interaction, the Kannada star responded to veteran producer Allu Aravind’s old remark questioning his popularity before the success of ‘KGF’, which turned him into a recognised face across India.Speaking on the talk show Aap Ki Adalat, Yash shared that the success of a film can transform an actor’s career, but stressed that cinema is ultimately a collective effort involving several people.
Yash says cinema is not just about producers
Yash was asked about the comment, “Who was Yash before KGF? A producer makes a film and an actor gains advantage by starring in it.”The actor said there was truth in the idea that a successful film can benefit its lead actor, but argued that the contribution of everyone involved in filmmaking should also be recognised.“It is true. But I also believe that cinema doesn’t just belong to a producer,” he said. He further shared that writers, character actors and other members of a film’s crew put in considerable effort, even though the lead actor often receives the largest share of public attention.He further said, “So many people work in cinema, but only the actor gets credits. Be it a character artist or a writer, everyone works hard in cinema, but if an actor is not able to carry it, the film will not work.”The ‘KGF’ star also credited audiences for recognising performers who genuinely connect with them. He said, “I feel audience is right, sometimes I wonder why does actor win all the love. Then I realised despite the pressure (from work), an actor is able to connect and emote through a film, then that does the trick. And I truly believe that audience is never wrong. They respect everyone and are aware as to who deserves to earn more respect.”

Allu Aravind’s original comments date back to 2023, when the veteran producer spoke about Yash’s rise following the success of ‘KGF’. He had questioned Yash’s level of recognition before the film and attributed much of ‘KGF’s success to its scale and production value.Years after KGF changed his career, Yash is now preparing for another major release with Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups.Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the action thriller features Yash alongside Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, Huma Qureshi and Rukmini Vasanth.The film is scheduled to arrive in theatres worldwide on August 26, 2026.
