Chennai SI transferred to Armed Reserve over derogatory remarks to Class X student

Chennai: A police sub-inspector was transferred to Armed Reserve after a video of him making derogatory remarks to a Class X student during an inquiry at a govt school near Manimangalam went viral.The incident followed a clash between two groups of Class X students from Government Higher Secondary School at Madambakkam, Kancheepuram district. Police said students exchanged abusive words while returning home from school a few days ago, leading to the scuffle.After the parents informed Manimangalam police, sub-inspector Vetriselvan visited the school and questioned the students involved. During the inquiry, Vetriselvan made derogatory remarks to one of them in the presence of the parents. A video of the incident was subsequently widely circulated on social media.Senior Tambaram city police officers sought an explanation over the SI’s conduct. Following an inquiry, he was transferred to Armed Reserve.
