Chennai: Schools run by Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) recorded an uptick in Class XII board examination results this year, with the overall pass percentage rising to 92.26% from last year’s 88.12%. According to the corporation’s education department, a total of 5,179 students, including 2,257 boys and 2,922 girls, from 35 corporation higher secondary schools appeared for the state board examinations. Of them, 4,778 students cleared the exams. The pass percentage among boys stood at 89.85%, while girls recorded 94.11%. A total of 173 students secured centum scores across subjects, including computer applications, computer science, accountancy, economics, business mathematics, food service management, textile and dress designing, and auditing.Overall, 43 students scored between 551 and 600 marks, while 241 students secured between 501 and 550 marks. Another 543 students scored between 451 and 500 marks. Among the schools, Pulla Avenue Chennai Girls Higher Secondary School topped with 593 out of 600 marks. Perambur MH Road Chennai Girls Higher Secondary School came second with 586 marks, followed by Perambur Market Street Chennai Girls Higher Secondary School with 583 marks.Nungambakkam Chennai Girls Higher Secondary School and CIT Nagar Chennai Higher Secondary School registered 100% pass results.
