NEW DELHI: An African woman died on Thursday after allegedly jumping from the third floor of a residential building during a raid conducted by the Anti-Narcotics Squad (ANS) in the Delhi’s Swaroop Nagar area, according to news agency PTI.The incident took place during an ongoing investigation linked to an NDPS case registered at Burari police station.According to police, the ANS team was tracing the supply chain of drugs seized earlier in the case, in which an accused identified as Frank Dashmond had already been arrested. Acting on inputs, officers reached a building in Swaroop Nagar and detained a man named Romeo, also known as Sky. A search of his flat reportedly led to the recovery of about 30 grams of MDMA and 1.5 grams of heroin.During the operation, police found that two African nationals were staying in separate flats on the upper floor of the same building.Officials said one of them, identified as Stella Pius, allegedly jumped from the balcony of her flat when the police entered the premises. She was immediately taken to Burari Government Hospital, where doctors declared her dead.In another flat, police detained a second African national, Martin Aaron. A key recovered from him was allegedly used to open a locked room inside Stella’s flat.On searching the room, officers reportedly found chemicals, laboratory glassware, beakers, pipes, weighing machines, and large quantities of suspected raw materials used in drug production.Police believe the room was being used as a facility for manufacturing methamphetamine and storing materials for synthetic drugs. The Anti-Narcotics Squad of North district is continuing its investigation into the case, while separate legal proceedings related to the woman’s death are being carried out by Swaroop Nagar police.Officials are also working to trace the wider network involved in the suspected drug manufacturing and supply operation.
