Jaipur: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Friday said it had arrested five North Western Railway (NWR) officials and two private company employees in two separate cases of bribery.In the first case, registered Thursday, the CBI arrested three NWR officials posted in Jaipur and an employee of a Navi Mumbai-based private company. The CBI identified the three NWR officials as office superintendent Sangeeta Kumari, assistant financial adviser S N Bairwa and senior section officer Sunil Kumar Sanghi. The private employee of the Navi Mumbai-based company was identified as Gaurav Gupta.According to the CBI, the case relates to the demand and acceptance of bribes in connection with the processing and passing of bills for work being executed by the private company under NWR, Jaipur.The CBI said it recovered Rs 1.46 lakh in bribe money during a sting operation to nab the accused, while searches conducted subsequently across multiple locations in Jaipur and Delhi led to the seizure of incriminating documents, electronic devices and Rs 9 lakh in cash.In the second case, also registered Thursday, the CBI arrested two NWR officials posted in Bikaner and an employee of a Kolkata-based private company. The agency identified those arrested as NWR senior section officer Rajendra Choudhary, account assistant Rakesh Kumar and Naval Kishore, an employee of a Kolkata-based private company.The CBI alleged that Choudhary was involved in demanding and accepting illegal gratification in collusion and conspiracy with other unknown public servants, private persons and officials of the Kolkata-based company in return for favourable processing and passing of bills.During an operation to nab the accused, the agency recovered Rs 1.20 lakh in alleged bribe money. Subsequent searches conducted across multiple locations in Bikaner and Jaipur led to the seizure of incriminating documents and electronic devices, the CBI said.
