Surat/Ahmedabad: Reinforcing its reputation as a hub of commerce and professional education, Surat delivered another impressive performance in the Chartered Accountancy Final examinations, with Akshat Beriwala securing an All India Rank (AIR) 10 and five other city students figuring among the country’s top 50 rank-holders.Beriwala scored 451 out of 600 marks in his first attempt, capping three years of disciplined preparation. A former student of Maheshwari Vidyapeeth and SD Jain International College, Beriwala credited meticulous planning and consistency for his success. “I prepared through weekly targets and ensured I completed them regardless of circumstances. I never expected to be among the country’s top 10,” he said.

The son of a textile businessman, Beriwala plans to complete his CMA and CFA qualifications before gaining industry experience and eventually launching his own consultancy in investment banking and business advisory.According to Rahul Agrawal, chairman of the ICAI Surat Branch (WIRC), 644 students from Surat appeared for both groups of the CA Final examination, with 104 clearing both groups. Additionally, 20 students passed Group I and 51 cleared Group II. Notably, six Surat students secured national ranks, underlining the city’s growing prominence in the CA profession.Notably, no student from Ahmedabad secured a place on the All India merit list this year.A total of 54,606 candidates appeared for Group I across India, of whom 6,555 passed, recording a 12% result. In Group II, 8,275 of the 42,573 candidates cleared the exam, taking the pass rate to 20.49%. In all, 23,776 candidates appeared for both groups, and 3,345 passed, registering a pass rate of 14.07%.In Ahmedabad, 851 candidates appeared for Group I, but only 51 cleared it, resulting in a pass rate of 5.99%. For Group II, 472 candidates appeared, and 96 passed, recording a 20.34% result. A total of 664 students from the city appeared for both groups, of whom 91 passed.
