Kolkata: One student sustained injuries and received medical attention after the bus that he was travelling in collided on NH-16 near Mechagram in Purba Medinipur, around 82 km from Kolkata, on Friday afternoon.Several others escaped unhurt after two of three private buses carrying students of a prominent English medium school from the city collided between 2pm and 2.30pm. The buses were headed to Jhargram when the accident occurred.The impact shattered the front windshield of one bus and caused significant damage to the front portion of the other. Cops from Panskura Police Station rushed to the spot and co-ordinated the evacuation of the students. They also arranged for the damaged buses and the students to return to Kolkata.Students, school staff and bus crew members declined to comment on the sequence of events.
