CHANDIGARH: A building collapsed in Chandigarh’s Industrial Area on Saturday while rescue operations were underway to pull out people trapped under the debris. “It was a single-storey building which suddenly collapsed. Efforts are being made to rescue two people who are trapped,” a senior police official said, adding that personnel rushed to the spot after the incident. Heavy earth-moving machines had been pressed into service by the administration. Rescue teams are also using powerful torches to illuminate the rubble in an attempt to locate and establish contact with anyone who may be trapped inside.(With agency inputs)
