Jaisalmer: Ahead of Independence Day, Border Security Force detained a man after he allegedly scaled the boundary wall and entered a BSF camp in Sriganganagar, bordering Pakistan. He was nabbed with Pakistani mobile numbers reportedly found in his phone.The suspect, identified as Subhash Chander, a resident of village 02 FF in Sriganganagar, allegedly entered the camp of the BSF’s 163rd Battalion late on Aug 9. BSF personnel caught him inside the premises and handed him over to Raisinghnagar police after a medical examination.Based on a BSF report, police registered a case Tuesday and launched an investigation. Security agencies are also questioning the suspect, with his interrogation likely to be conducted at the Joint Interrogation Centre (JIC).Preliminary examination of his mobile phone reportedly revealed call records and messages involving numbers bearing Pakistan’s +92 country code. BSF sources said the suspect had allegedly been in regular contact with these numbers and made several calls and exchanged messages with them.The agencies are investigating whether the alleged contacts were linked to any attempt to obtain sensitive military information or photographs from the BSF camp and share them across the border.Officials said the incident assumes significance as security agencies remain on heightened alert ahead of Independence Day.The alleged breach of a BSF camp, coupled with the suspect’s reported contact with Pakistani numbers, has prompted security agencies to intensify vigilance in the border district.Investigators are now examining the suspect’s call records, messages and other data stored on his phone to establish the nature and purpose of his alleged cross-border contacts.
