Rajkot: A domestic dispute escalated into patricide at a construction site near Kankot village in Rajkot, leaving a 40-year-old man dead and his 16-year-old son detained by police.The deceased was from Madhya Pradesh. According to preliminary inquiries, the incident occurred at the Sardar Dham construction premises where the victim’s wife and their son had been living and working.Police sources said that the deceased had arrived in Rajkot from Madhya Pradesh early on Thursday morning. Tensions escalated between the couple over an unspecified issue, leading to an argument that lasted throughout the day.By the afternoon, the deceased, who was apparently intoxicated, began assaulting his wife inside their room on the premises. After witnessing the assault, the couple’s son stepped in to defend his mother.A struggle ensued between the father and son. During the scuffle, the youth strangled his father.S R Meghani, inspector of Rajkot Taluka police station said: “The mother and son had come here a month ago, in search of employment.”Officers detained the minor and dispatched the body for a postmortem to determine the cause of death.
